Oopsie, a slight pause in blogging just happened. First mom claimed to be too busy, and then they went on a holiday! I guess our beloved country has been too chilly this spring (and it still is...), so the humans went to get their dose of warmth and sun from Spain. You won't guess what I did while they were away...

No kitty hostel this time, but a bed and breakfast at a young couple (a colleague of mom) who had a cat too! I had a blast!  Before the holiday, we went for a test visit to see if me and their (neutered) mancat would get along, and we did just fine. He was very friendly and curious of me, and after a couple of days I warmed up and started to show some interest for some playtime together. I guess kitty friends are  cool even in IRL! Now I'm back home, and I haven't even felt the need to protest on any way. Well, at least so far...

Have a nice evening you all!

It is a rather gloomy day in Connecticut as we honor all our fallen heros on this sombre Memorial Day.  For some of us lucky folks...and cat lovers, a purring cat seems to have an uncanny ability to brighten our days (even rainy ones)...and if they are purring all the better!  These adorable little rumbling vibrations indicate that a cat is content, but there is much more to it than that.  When a cat purrs, humans benefit too--including everything from heart health to blood pressure and, bone, yes bone growth benefits! I was especially interested in the connection between bone growth and the vibrations of purring.

The vibrations of purring cats have been studied and are believed to  have healing properties.  It is thought that  one reason why cats purr in the first place is related to their own internal health benefits. However, it has been found that the soothing vibrations of purring help their pet friends as well with everything from swelling and sore joints to broken bones!  Studies have shown that a cat's purr can build up bone strength, making it easier for bones to heal after a break or fracture. It has been found that the best frequencies for promoting bone strength is around 25-50 Hz, and since most cats purr at close to or above 20 Hz, these cuddly rumbles promote bone health!

Speaking of health, I like to feed my cats healthy treats and www.chewy.com sent me Blue Buffalo's delightful "Kitty Yums" Savory Salmon Recipe.  These soft little nuggets of goodness are made with real deboned salmon, wholesome brown rice, oatmeal and fish oil. These treats don't contain chicken or poultry by product meals, corn, wheat or soy.   They are a purrfect treat  for cats that help promote healthy skin and joints that all cats need to be active...just look at sleek Sabu performing on the bannister railing!
Salmon is a nutritional superstar because it has so many vitamins, minerals proteins and essential fatty acids like Omega 3 and 6 that help lubricate joints. With well lubricated joints, your cat can pounce, jump, run and stand on their hind legs well into their senior years! Kitty Yums are only 2 calories per treat and are full of nutritional goodness that you will love feeding to your four legged purring friends. Chewy.com offers Blue Buffalo Kitty Yums @ a 20% discount!

Some cats are fluffy little butterballs and others are sleek and sinuous, independent and loving, playful and sedate,  cats have a long history of domestication and their friendship is endearing.  Best of all,  scientific studies have shown  that there is power in purring and that owning a cat has many health benefits.  I keep my cat healthy by ordering  and reviewing a multitude of healthy and hard to find items for cats from www.chewy.com.  The gang is always excited when a box from www.chewy arrives!

Cat owners are onto something. When your cat purrs within the range of 20-140 Hertz, pet parents that are nearby are therapeutically benefiting from these vibrations.  Petting a purring cat for example has been linked to lowering blood pressure and stress.  It has also been linked to decreasing symptoms of  troubled breathing or  dyspnoea, in both cats and pet parents.  Purring is good news for heart patients too; a recent study has shown that cat owners have a 40% less risk of heart attack.

To keep my cats purring, I decided to try Merrick's Backcountry Freeze Dried Raw Chicken Treats from chewy.com. This delicious grain free treat is made with real deboned chicken, chicken and turkey broth, chicken liver and deboned turkey for cats that crave a meaty treat as nature intended.  Backcountry uses  protein rich all natural ingredients that would have been part of the ultimate feline ancestral diet.

Merrick's Backcountry Freeze Dried Chicken Treats come in a resealable heavy plastic pouch and are on the firm side so they don't crumble in the bag as some other brands do, these treats hold their shape.  I like to mix in these pieces of raw freeze dried chicken in my cat's dry cat food as an added nutritional treat. Being freeze dried these treats are full of natural goodness and nutrients that are easily digestible.

I also like the fact that the Merrick Company has been a family affair  since 1988.  They are located in Hereford, Texas just outside Amarillo.  The goal of the company is to craft wholesome, nutritious recipes that pets deserve. All their food is made in their kitchens in Texas with  no ingredients from China. This month at www.chewy.com Merrick's Backcountry Dried Chicken Treats are on sale and marked down from $3.29 to $2.72 and if you use autoship the prices goes down to $2.58.  This is a very reasonable price for a high end freeze dried treat.

Mom has been too busy for me lately, she has all kinds of excuses. Anyhow, this weekend is also filled with all kinds of celebration, kids birthday and mothers day. So here's an old picture of me in a funny napping position.

Have a happy weekend!

Sunny and quiet afternoon, napping and stretching on a sunpuddle.

Looks can be deceiving though, sunlight is pretty but the weather is still so cold. It's been snowing still in some parts of our land. Summer seems so far away...

Some mornings are just better than the others. Today, after half of the family left early for a sports tournament, me and mom got to continue our sleep in the bed.

You know when the bed is somehow extra fluffy and warm, the morning sunlight is just right, and only happy thoughts and dreams are welcome to your head.

And when it feels like the sheets could almost swallow you. Then everything is pretty good.

Mom claimed that I was even snoring that quiet little kitty snore, but I don't admit that. But anyhow, it was one of my top 5 morning naps.

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Yesterday and today have been pretty crazy, one of the kids had his birthday party. That means a bunch of kids running around the house and garden like crazy. Obviously these zen-like pictures aren't taken during the party. But now things are back to normal again. Happy Caturday to all of you!

...why don't you let me go out with the kids?

There was this gorgeous sunlight this morning, and I think it's every kitty's duty to go and enjoy it. So I did.

I hope you had a nice day!

The first of May, I got to celebrate it by going outside. It had been snowing (I kid you not) a couple of days, but now we have sunlight. And hard wind which kind of neutralizes the warmth of the sun, but we take what we get.

I found an interesting red feather from the garden to play with. I thought it must have belonged to a very exotic bird, but apparently it was just a left over decorations from Easter. Anyways, it was fun to chase it.

My staff had a day off today, but tomorrow it's back to business. See you!
